Glasgow, UK

I marched in Glasgow, and was so struck by the energy of the crowds chanting, and inspired by the slogans on the placards, that I wrote a song called, Not In Our Name. it was recorded by my band, The Zips, for our Dumbstruck ep in 2004, and we still perform it live.

NOT IN OUR NAME
Turn up the central heating, and step on the gas
This war’s ours for the taking, it’ll be a blast
Don’t care what god you got, don’t care what creed
Don’t want no holy war, we got kids to feed

Not in our name
Not in our name

Smart bombs and stealth bombers, how can we lose
Six-pack and a cruise missile, on the 6 o’clock news
War is so 20th century so retro-chic
Don’t want no armageddon, hear the people speak

Not in our name
Not in our name

Not in the name of the father
Not in the name of the son
Not in the name of the holy-moly
All three-in-one
