I happened to be the organiser of the Young People’s Parliament for Essex. Aged 11-16 they all wanted to go so I hurriedly organised parental permission and a couple of parents came as well. It was the first march they had been on so what an introduction to protest ! It was so big that streams of people were walking down several parallel streets towards Hyde Park. No police were in sight and the huge crowds controlled themselves. There was no violence and no problems. I spent a lot of time making sure the young people didn’t get lost and were OK about being in the middle of it all so we didn’t get to see much else and we didn’t make it to Hyde Park as it was time to go home before we could get there so we had to climb railings into a park to get out. But altogether a wonderful inspiring human experience.
