London

I remember the day as clear as Crystal. The oppressive feeling of the build up to war was weighing heavy on mine and many more of my friends shoulders. We all met at Brixton tube station and already there where hundreds of people with placards and signs getting on the tube. One of my american friends had made a placard that read “Not all Yanks Want Tanks”. The buzz on the tube was electric and when we disembarked at Embankment I can remember looking from the steps of the station down along the Embankment and the procession seemed to stretch forever. Adults, kids, OAP’s, Nurses, Doctor’s, Trade Union groups, CND, Greenpeace, the Green Party (the list is endless). The march and rally in Hyde Park where to this day one of the highlights of my life that I will never forget. I am sooooooo proud to have been a participant (after marching against the Poll Tax and Criminal Justice Bill (with it’s ludicrous “more than 4 people gathered together and listening to repetitive beats” nonsense) Long live the global peace movement TC
