Abingdon Peace Group took a coach full of people down, which dropped us on the South Bank. We crossed Waterloo Bridge and joined a massive diversion round Aldwych to join the tail end of the march, and ended up actually bringing up the rear, with volunteers sweeping up litter behind us. By the time we reached Hyde Park the speeches were over and people were flooding out. Mobile signals were jammed, the coach was waiting in a square near Hyde Park corner but 2 women, who didn’t know London at all and had never been on a march, phoned us from Kensington Gardens and had to be talked in, finally reaching us about 7pm. There were small children on the coach but everyone was on a high, thinking the government were bound to listen…
