Joined a massive march, had many friends at different points of the march. When I got to the end point at Hyde Park there were still friends of mine at the beginning it was that big. The Police underestimated the amount of people on the march, it really was one of the most energising feelings to be part of a HUGE majority who all felt it wrong to go to war with Iraq. Feeling that we had to be heard and that the UK government would do something about it, imagine how upsetting it was to find that they were going ahead with the attack on Iraq, even though no WMD were found. In previous gatherings, the police were kettling the peaceful demonstrators, I was threatened with arrest and intimidated by 6 police officers for merely watching from afar. There were even members of the Cabinet who resigned over the attack on Iraq stating that Iraq probably didn’t have any WMD. So that was the last march I ever went on as I realised it makes absolutely no difference, and that if hundreds of thousands of protesters don’t make a blind bit of difference, then what’s the point.
