I went down on one of 4 coaches from Matlock organised by the people associated with Scarthin Books in Cromford. I sat next to expat Welsh man Tony Rees from Matlock and conversed in Welsh on the journey down the M1 to London. We were heartened to see the huge number of coaches carrying protestors from all part of the British Isles en route to London.
When we got to London we found that we were marching with other midlands groups that had arrived at the same time as us. Tony sang the international in Welsh as we walked. There were flags and banners of all sorts, Anarchists, Socialists Plaid Cymru from Wales. The noise was tremendous. I’ve been on many marches in the past but none matched this for size. There were millions on the streets of London that day. What a shame the war mongers and politicians did not listen to the voice of the people.
