Seattle USA

My wife and I had demonstrated on our own at the busiest street corner and were encouraged with the ratio of thumbs up to “F” you. It was pretty trying to do it on our own, so we were encouraged when there was a mass demonstration in Seattle, just 40 minutes away, on February 15, 2003. As evangelical Christians we knew we were in the minority and politely refused communist literature. Once the march started, we were headed from the Space Needle toward the end of the crowd and had a sense it was big but no idea how big. When we did a dogleg and started down the long gradual hill or 3rd (or 4th?) we were moved by the sight of an enormous sea of people stretched out for a mile ahead of us. It was exhilarating to participate and eye-opening to read the mainstream press estimates of “hundreds” when we got home. That was a turning point in my understanding of the media. Since then, I’ve become more libertarian-leaning, worked for the Ron Paul campaign, contributed money to antiwar.com, and taught an adult Sunday School class on Christian views of war and just war at a conservative Presbyterian church with many military families. Let’s stop the war against China and Russia before it starts! (cf Pilger “The Coming War” ; F. William Engdahl _Target China_)
