– I came to Canada in 1969 as a refugee from American militarism. I knew what a war based on lies meant to people attacked by the United States. The Vietnamese people were slaughtered mercilessly by the American military and I felt it my duty to express my opposition to an attack on another country based on false pretenses. The images of burning Vietnamese children was still fresh in my mind and I knew that the US military would do the same to Iraqi children. I knew that the chances were slim that my appearance on the street would do anything whatsoever to stop the juggernaut of war but I had to express my resistance to the coming holocaust.
-The official war against Iraq may now be over for the United States but it definitely isn’t over for the Iraqi people themselves who are suffering its awful effects now and will be for coming generations. This aggressive war was an extraordinary violation of international law and a bestial attack on millions of innocents. George Bush, his cabinet and advisors must be tried for war crimes!
