I marched along with tens of thousands of men women and children. I had marched on the same route in 1968 to protest about the Vietnam War.This day 2003 I was accompanied by my daughter who was 4 mths pregnant with my first grandchild.I felt such a mix of emotions as I was thrilled at the prospect of becoming a granny yet here I was still 35yrs on from 1968 marching to try to stop the warmongers bringing unimaginable suffering to the people of Iraq. In the words of the song” When will they ever Learn” I thought of this, and felt such anger, that Blair and Bush were leading thousands perhaps millions to their deaths in the name of what?? Well Mr Blair the message was and remains Not in my name!! Indeed over 200years ago when the warmongers were sending young farm labourers as cannon fodder in the war against France our national poet Robert Burns wrote, ” Ye hypocrites are these yer pranks, tae murder men and gie God thanks? Desist for shame, proceed nae further, God willnae gie ye thanks for murder” Shame on you Tony Blair !!!
