There were few political activists in Rugby in 2003, no organised left groups, and we had only just set up the Rugby Stop The War Coalition in the town.
Despite this, we mobilised over 50 people to come down to London and join the demonstration. It was one of the proudest moments of my long political life to be part of that mobilisation, and the fact that we were starting off as others were arriving in Hyde Park made me aware this was part of something special.
Rugby STWC used the tremendous feelings of solidarity and empowerment experienced on the march to campaign actively against the war, as we are still doing today
